G2’s path to the IEM Dallas trophy was anything but straightforward.
They faced and defeated some of the top contenders, including FaZe Clan and Team Vitality, showcasing remarkable resilience and skill.
Under the leadership of Nikola “NiKo” Kova?, the team also overcame the dark horse of the event, 9z Team, in the playoffs.
The grand final against Vitality was a gripping three-map series that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
The action kicked off on G2’s pick, Inferno.
Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov set the tone with a 4K in the pistol round, leading G2 to a 7-5 advantage by the end of the first half.

G2 eventually triumphed 19-16, thanks to brilliant plays from NiKo, m0NESY, and Nemanja “huNter-” Kova?.

After the side switch, Vitality extended their advantage with a dominant pistol round, and although Heroic attempted a comeback, apEX’s consistent form ensured Vitality’s victory.

After an initially promising second round, won by a trio of frags from sjuush, HEROIC managed only one more round in the half as Vitality’s offense proved unstoppable.
Vitality’s dominance continued in the second half, quickly wrapping up the game with a fast B retake and two additional rounds.

G2 Esports also advanced to the IEM Dallas semi-finals with a decisive 2-0 (13-8, 13-2) win over FaZe Clan, maintaining their impressive run despite fielding Jacky “?Stewie2K?” Yip as a stand-in.
FaZe, typically formidable in major tournaments, faltered on the Terrorist sides of Dust2 and Nuke.
On Dust2, FaZe initially held a 7-5 lead after a chaotic CT side, but their T side performance collapsed.

The second match of Group A at IEM Dallas 2024 is a regional derby between Complexity and Team Liquid. The North American teams last met during the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 American RMR in March when Complexity won 2-1, and according to esports betting odds, we should be in for another close game.

Ranked as the no.25 Counter-Strike esports team in the world, BIG are hardly serious contenders to win Intel Extreme Masters Dallas 2024. They didn’t accomplish much at ESL Pro League Season 19, and they didn’t impress at BLAST Premier Spring Showdown 2024 in March either.
Over the last three months, we have not seen BIG defeat a single elite CS team, and even when faced with weaker opponents, they’ve occasionally underdelivered. So even though Natus Vincere are notorious for slow starts to tournaments, they should do enough to beat BIG with a few rounds to spare.

Interestingly, the last two events that took place in the Asia-Pacific region — IEM Sydney 2023 and CS Asia Championships — were won by FaZe Clan. Unlike most of the European squads, FaZe seem to get better when they have to travel, and after their runner-up finish at the Major, anyone who plays them during IEM Chengdu could be in for a tough clash.

If you are a die-hard Counter-Strike fan, there is no need to get into the heartbreaking circumstances surrounding Virtus.pro’s exit from PGL Major Copenhagen; however, if they had beaten G2 Esports, this roster could have done some serious damage.
VP were dominant during both the Europe RMR A and IEM Dallas 2024 Europe qualifiers, advancing to the main event of each tournament with 3-0 records. This roster, led by Dzhami “Jame” Ali, has been together for nine months, and their cohesion is as good as any squad participating at this event.
Virtus.pro will be in the same group as FaZe Clan and will more than likely play off in the upper-bracket final. Due to them being in the same group, as long as VP or FaZe finish second in the group, they won’t face each other again until the grand final, which puts them both in a great spot.

Astralis had an explosive start to their BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2024 campaign last week when they defeated Team Vitality and Team Falcons en route to a fifth-sixth-place finish. With those wins, Astralis are 6-2 since the turn of the year, albeit with just two notable wins.
Heroic haven’t looked great since the recent roster rebuild and recently lost to Cloud9 and BIG at Spring Groups. Before that, they defeated IKLA and SYnck, which is hardly something to celebrate.
Astralis have looked much better recently and field better players, but this is a regional derby between two rivals who know each other well. So, as much as this is Astralis’ game to lose, it’s fair to expect a close match.

BIG left a strong statement at BLAST Premier Spring Groups 2024, where they defeated Heroic and Cloud9 and played close series’ against Virtus.pro and Astralis. It was a much-needed bounceback for the German side, who went 0-3 in PGL Major Copenhagen 2024: European Qualifier A earlier this month.
BIG’s strong showing at Spring Groups is a big reason why they’re priced as favourites against ENCE. The other is that ENCE lost most of its top players to Team Falcons at the end of 2023 and has since played just one official match.
It’s tough to say how good ENCE will be with the new-look roster, but this is a competitive lineup that deserves some respect. The lack of official matches is concerning, but $2.20 is a very generous offer for a best-of-one series against a team that has produced only a few good games over the last month.

Team Spirit finished BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2024 in 13th-16th place with defeats against Team Liquid and FaZe Clan. In their defence, Spirit were without Boris “magixx” Vorobyev and Danil “donk” Kryshkovets, so those results don’t hold much weight.
Prior to BLAST Premier, Team Spirit held a 6-1 record and produced a near-perfect run through the European PGL Major Copenhagen qualifiers.
Apeks used to be very competitive at the top level, but the departure of top players left the squad scrambling to find traction. This year, Apeks have played just two official matches, a 13-5 win against EC BANGA and a rough 3-13 defeat against For The Win Esports.
Apeks are not in a good spot and haven’t shown anything memorable since early December. On the other hand, Team Spirit has been on an upswing over the last month and is rightly priced as a favourite to win on Wednesday.
